The Water's Favorite Toy began as a photograph of a weathered log on a Tahoe beach, waves splashing bright against it under full sun. Reworked stroke by stroke, the water and light were pulled into lively, swirling texture, the splash and shimmer turned into something almost playful — as if the lake itself couldn't resist reaching for the log again and again. What was once a simple stretch of shoreline becomes something closer to a game in progress, sunlit and endlessly repeating. Part photograph, part painting, it's a small celebration of the joy found in the lake's smallest, most ordinary motions.
