Where Fire Meets the Lake began as a photograph of a lake at sunset, a lone pine standing silhouetted against the water while the sun sank toward the horizon. Reworked stroke by stroke, the sky was pulled into swirling bands of red and gold, the sun itself spiraling into the water below until the two seemed to burn as one. What was once a quiet evening on the shore becomes something closer to a held breath — the last, brilliant moment before the light lets go. Part photograph, part painting, it's a small study in how a single instant can feel like it's still unfolding.
