Where the Lake Dreams began as a photograph of railroad tracks running straight into the water's edge, waves rolling in around the worn timber as the sky stretched wide above. Reworked stroke by stroke, the clouds and current were pulled into swirling, restless texture, until sky and water seemed to move as one continuous motion — the tracks the only steady line in a scene otherwise alive with drift. What was once a fixed path becomes something closer to a reverie, disappearing into the lake as if it were headed somewhere only dreams can follow. Part photograph, part painting, it's a small meditation on where the known world ends and imagination begins.
