Winter's Curious Watcher began as a photograph of a carved wooden bear in Tahoe, buried in snow with just his head poking above the drift, pine trees standing watch in the foreground. Reworked stroke by stroke, the snow and branches were pulled into soft, swirling texture, turning a quiet winter scene into something a little more alive — as if the whole forest were holding its breath along with him. Part photograph, part painting, it's a small, playful moment of stillness found in the depths of a Tahoe winter.
